Even if the exact founding date is not known, it is estimated that this happened between 1202-1206 by the monks from the mother abbey, Igriș Abbey.

The Cistercian Monastery introduced and helped develop the French Gothic art in the region.

Manastirea Cisterciana

It survived the centuries but only partially. The big nave collapsed and now is used as an inside cemetery. Still, wondering around the ruins you will notice the impressive size. A walk up to the panoramic observation point from the gate tower is a must. While you will see the village, you will enjoy a spectacular view of Făgăraș Mountains.
