Densus Church

Densuș Fortified Church is located in Densuș village in Hunedoara County, being the oldest stone church from Romania. It was built in the 13th century on the site of a Roman temple from the second century. Some materials from Sarmizegetusa fortress were used to build it.

According to historians, on the actual setting there was once a Dacian temple dedicated to Zamolxis and then later a temple dedicated to God Mars, built by the Romans after conquering Dacia.

Densuș Church is considered the oldest church in Romania and also in South East Europe.
