Located in Suceava County, Voroneț Monastery is one of the most famous painted monasteries from the southern part of Bucovina. It was built in 1488 by the ruler of those times, Ștefan cel Mare (Stephan The Great) in order to commemorate the victory of the Battle at Vaslui. It is also known as the ”Sistine Chapel of the East” thanks to the frescoes that feature a special and intense shade of blue, known in Romania as „Voroneț blue”.
Voroneț Monastery is one of the churches of Moldavia listed in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites.
